For men’s hair systems, curl size is usually measured in centimeters. A smaller number means a tighter curl. A larger number means a looser curl or softer wave.

When choosing a curl or wave pattern, the most important rule is to match the client’s natural side and back hair. The top hair system should not look much curlier or straighter than the client’s existing hair unless a full style change is planned. For most male clients, 2.5cm to 3.0cm works well for a natural wave. For clients with naturally curly hair, 1.0cm to 1.8cm may be more suitable. For Afro or very tight curl textures, 0.4cm or 0.6cm may be required.Match the client’s natural side and back hair. A 2.5cm–3.0cm wave suits most clients; 1.0cm–1.8cm works well for naturally curly hair, while 0.4cm–0.6cm is best for very tight curl textures.
