FAQs
What is a men’s frontal hair piece?
Men’s front hair pieces are small-scaled partial hairpieces designed to cover the man’s forehead, restoring the far-retreated hairline.
How does the frontal hairpiece work?
As the front hair piece only covers the man’s forehead section, we only need to shave the forehead area and attach it to the shaved area. The hairline toupee also needs to be cut according to the shape and size of the area the hairpiece will be applied. Then the hairstylist will cut and style the hair into the wearer’s desired look.
How much do the men’s frontal hair pieces cost?
Since men’s frontal hair pieces are much smaller than regular hairpieces, the cost is much lower. Most men’s frontal hair pieces cost less than $100/pc on the market. When it comes to wholesale hair pieces price, it can go as low as $20/pc.
How long does a men’s frontal hair piece last?
Similar to standard hair replacement systems, the lifespan of men’s frontal hair piece depends mainly on the base material of the hairpiece.

A hairline hair system lasts significantly longer with proper care. For example, a typical thin skin hair system with minimal or no care lasts 3 months. However, with appropriate care, it can last up to 8 months.
Should I remove the frontal toupee while asleep or sleep with it on?
Front hair pieces are semi-permanent. They are attached to the wearer’s scalp using toupee tapes or glue. When attached, you won’t be able to remove it whenever you want.
It usually remain attached for 3-4 weeks before your next touchup or maintenance when you can go to a salon. The trained and experienced stylist will help remove, clean, and reattach it.
So yes, you don’t have to remove the front hairline toupee while asleep. You shouldn’t until your next maintenance or touchup.
Can I shower with the front hair piece on?
Again, front hair system is semi-permanent. After installation, it will remain attached to the head before your next touchup or maintenance. You cannot remove it whenever you want. So, you can’t remove it when you shower. It’s just like you have to sleep with the hairpiece on after it’s attached or reattached.
However, when you shower, do not use hot water, as hot water will eventually loosen up the bond and lead to the hair piece slipping or falling off. Showering the hair once or twice will be fine; remember to use lukewarm water. If you must shower daily, cover the hair with a shower cap to prevent the hair from getting wet.
Can I swim while wearing the frontal toupee?
The short answer is yes, you can. Of course, frontal toupees are semi-permanent hair pieces; when installed, you can’t remove them whenever you want until your next maintenance or touchup. So if you have a men’s frontal hair piece, you must swim in it.
However, swimming too often with hair pieces on will lead to hair damage or breakage. Why? It’s everything to do with the swimming water. Swimming water is mainly seawater or pool water. Seawater is salty, while pool water is saturated with chlorine. Both salt and chlorine dehydrate hair, making the hair brittle and susceptible to damage.
To better protect your toupee hair, before swimming, rinse your hair thoroughly with fresh water so that the hair may have enough moisture to fight dehydration. After swimming, shower your hair as thoroughly as possible with fresh water and properly condition it to keep it hydrated.
How do I make a template for men’s frontal hair piece?
To make a template, firstly, prepare the tools: A pair of sharp scissors, a roll of glad wrap, sellotape, and a marking pen.
Step 1: Determine the area of the wearer’s scalp for the hair piece to be installed. Then, shave and cleanse the area of the scalp.
Step 2: Spread the glad wrap over the wearer’s head, pressing it firmly and evenly. You can even wrap it around the wearer’s chin to ensure it’s airtight, without gaps or bumps.
Step 3: Trace around the area the hair piece will cover with the marking pen. If the front hairline isn’t obvious, place four fingers above his eyebrows, and that’s usually where the ideal hairline starts.
Step 4: Stick sellotape on the glad wrap, piece by piece and evenly, and ensure they overlap. Ensure the tapes cover the complete bald area. To ensure the durability of the template, repeat the same step 2-3 times to make 3 layers of tape at least: one layer horizontally, the next vertically, and then horizontally again. Label the front and back with the marking pen.
Step 5: Take the template off the head. Remember the contour line you just marked? Cut it out with sharp scissors, following the trace line. Now you have a complete template for the frontal hair system. Place it back on the wearer’s head, and see if it fits.
How to choose a toupee for receding hairline
To choose a suitable frontal hair replacement, three key factors must be considered: the size of the hair system, base material, and hair color.
Size: The hair system must perfectly match the area of hair loss. You can get it custom-made or choose a stock frontal hair system similar to your client’s size and cut it into the correct size and shape when you get it. Or, you can send in your client’s head measurements, and we’ll cut the hair system before shipping; your client can wear it straight out of the box.
Base Materials: Lace, skin, and monofilament are the primary base materials.
1. Lace: Lace is the most breathable, and comfortable base material. It also looks the most realistic, especially when used on the front hairline.
2. Skin: PU skin frontal hair pieces have a base as a thin skin membrane. It’s clingy, and easily maintained. Skin frontal hair pieces are ideal for new hair piece wearers.
3. Monofilament: Monofilament is the most durable base material. Monofilament hair pieces can typically last 6-12 months if cared for properly. Look for monofilament if you or your client is after long-lasting men’s frontal hair pieces.
Hair Color: You always want the toupee hair to blend perfectly with the wearer’s natural hair. Suppose the hair color contrasts too much with your natural hair. Tools and accessories: toupee tapes, alcohol, a pair of sharp scissors, and a marking pen.
Step 1: Determine where you want the men’s frontal hair piece to be. Some wearers may have lost the hair on their forehead, and it’s hard to decide where the front hairline is. In that case, place four fingers above the wearer’s eyebrows; that’s usually the ideal spot where the hairline starts.
Step 2: Trace and contour the hairpiece-covering area with the marking pen.
Step 3: Trim and shave the area where the frontal toupee will cover from the final front hairline back.
Step 4: Cleanse the hairpiece-covering area with alcohol, ensuring it is absolutely oil-free.
Step 5: Place the men’s frontal hair piece on the forehead area it will cover to figure out how to fit it properly. If it’s too big, cut it to the correct size and shape for a perfect match. (Alternatively, you can use our Pre-cut Service. Send in your client’s scalp measurements. We’ll cut the hair piece for you before shipping.)
Step 6: Apply the double-sided tape on the scalp along the back of the outline. Peel off the tape backing and stick the men’s frontal hair piece to the scalp, pressing firmly for 10 seconds. Then apply tape along the front hairline, attach the rest of the hair piece, and press it firmly for a solid hold.
What are the best tape and glue for men’s frontal hair pieces?

How often should you reattach the frontal hair system?
Men’s frontal hair systems are semi-permanent. They won’t stay attached forever. As our scalp sweats and the wearer’s natural hair regrows under the hair system, the hair system does get loose and starts to peel after being worn for a while.
Ultra-thin skin hair systems, meaning hair systems with a skin base less than 0.03mm, usually can’t be reattached, as the base is so thin, any attempt of peeling it will easily tear it. So ultra-thin skin hair systems are those referred to as disposable hair pieces.
Other men’s frontal hair pieces can be reattached. On average, no matter if it’s a lace or skin front hair piece, it will stay attached for 4-6 weeks on the wearer’s scalp before the next reattachment.
Will wearing a front hair piece affect the health of my scalp?
