FAQs
What are human hair toppers for women?
Human hair toppers for women are known by several names, such as “half wigs” and “top hair pieces”, or”wiglet hair pieces.” Actually, they all refer to the same thing.
Human hair toppers are hairpieces for women with thinning hair, or for those who want to add volume and length to their natural hair. They are attached to their scalp to disguise one or more hair loss or thinning patches. Topper hair pieces for women add volume and length to create a full-head-of-hair look.
How do hair toppers for women stay in place?
Our hair toppers are designed with secure attachment methods. Most of our silk top and mono hair toppers feature clips, while the toupee hair system requires medical-grade glue or tapes, and the integrated hair topper requires innovative integration techniques for installation. All methods ensure a comfortable fit while staying securely in place, even during daily activities.
Are hair toppers suitable for individuals with sensitive skin?
Absolutely. We prioritize comfort and safety. The materials used in hair toppers are skin-friendly and hypoallergenic, making them suitable for customers with sensitive skin.
Can human hair toppers endure processes like coloring and heat styling?
Yes! One of the advantages of our human hair toppers is their styling versatility. They can be colored and heat-styled, offering endless possibilities for achieving desired looks. Customers can use heat styling tools, curlers, straighteners, and even dye the topper to match their preferred look.
How shall I choose the right-sized hair toppers for my client?
Selecting the correct size is the essential step in finding the best human hair toppers for your client. At Newtimes Hair, we offer women’s human hair toppers in three main sizes: small, medium, and large, to match the three specific areas of the head. These areas are the top of the crown, the front hairline, and the parts. Well-fitted topper hair pieces will appear natural, blending well with the wearer’s natural hair.
Taking measurements:
1. It would be best to determine the area and shape of the hair loss area on your client’s scalp. It can be at the hair parts, around the crown, along the hairline, or throughout the head.
2. Measure the front-back distance and the distance between the sides. These two measurements will be the length and width of the base.
3. Now you know how big the must-topper hair piece be for a perfect fit for your client’s hair loss area.
Are women’s hair toppers suitable for different stages of hair loss?
Yes, our hair toppers include different base sizes for varying degrees of hair loss, from mild to moderate. The hair toppers provide coverage where needed, boosting the confidence and self-esteem of your clients.
How do we choose the right hair color for the hair toppers?
Our collection features a diverse array of shades, from natural hues to vibrant tones, catering to a wide range of hair colors and preferences. Common sense tells us that hair topper wearers always look for hair toppers of the same color as their natural hair. This way, their hair will look the most natural.
It can be challenging for first-time wearers to figure out their hair color. However, there are ways to get it done.
1. You can use a color ring to compare your or your customer’s hair against the shades of the hair color swatches to find the matching color. Click to order a color ring or send us your color ring.
2. Online color palettes are another quick way to help find the correct match. Click to check our color image. (Note: there will be slight color differences between different monitors.)
3. Send us a sample of your or your customer’s hair.
How do I attach hair toppers for women?
Clip-on hair toppers
Most hair toppers for women have clips so that wearers can attach and remove them at home. Below are the steps on how to clip on and take off the toppers at home for personal wearers.
Step 1: Open all clips on the underside of the hair topper base and gently tease the areas of your natural hair where we’ll attach the clips for a more secure hold.
Step 2: Lie the hair topper over your hair loss area(s) by pulling the topper up to the front hairline and closing the clips to secure the bonding.
Step 3: Apply a little pressure to the top of the topper to secure the grip of the clips. Blend your natural hair with the topper’s hair until the two are well mixed, rendering a lush, full-head-of-hair look.

Professional hair toppers
Women’s human hair toppers can also be used as a semi-permanent hair loss treatment. It can be done at a salon, where the stylist will use microbeads and threads to sew the topper to the wearer’s natural hair. Here are the steps for hairstylists to follow.
Step 1: Place the topper on the top of the wearer’s head, aligning it with the contour of the hair loss area(s).
Step 2: There are gaps and holes around the edge of the hair topper base. Pull the wearer’s natural hair wisp by wisp, wisp by wisp, thread each wisp through a holed microbead, and clip the microbead tight to lock the hair. Lock the hair near but not stick to the roots (preferably 0.5 inch).
Step 3: Repeat Step 2 to get all the hair locked wisp-by-wisp around the edge of the topper.
Step 4: Comb the hair properly and let the toppers and the wearer’s natural hair mix well.
Step 5: Cut or style the hair into the wearer’s favorite style.

What types of hair do you use on hair toppers for women?
Newtimes Hair only uses premium human hair for all our wig toppers. Though human hair costs slightly more than synthetic hair, it lasts 2-3 times longer than synthetic hair. Human hair looks more natural and blends way better with the wearer’s natural hair than synthetic hair.
However, human hair qualities are also graded. We usually use virgin hair, Remy hair, and normal human hair, such as Indian hair, Chinese hair, or European hair.
Virgin Hair
Virgin hair is hair collected in bundles from single donors. Virgin hair has never been processed, bleached, or dyed. It’s the best-quality hair in the world.
However, virgin hair costs much more than other hair types simply because it is rare. Also, without any artificial procedures, virgin hair may not seem as professional as Remy hair. It may not look as shiny or smooth as lightly processed Remy hair. After getting virgin hair, most buyers would process it themselves before making it into hairpieces.
Remy Hair
“Remy” means a bunch of hair with intact cuticles, and every strand runs in the same direction. So it hardly ever tangles or mats.
Remy hair may have undergone gentle processing or bleaching to make it look more professional, shiny, and smooth. Newtimes Hair collects premium Remy hair from ethical sources. All our Remy hair is from single donors.
We slowly color and bleach our raw hair, which generally takes 5-7 days. It keeps the cuticles intact and healthy, permanently holding hair color. Most of our extensions and hair toppers for women are made of Remy hair. Remy hair is by far your best bargain.
Normal (non-Remy) hair
We source normal human hair from India, China, or Europe, mainly from India. Non-Remy hair is hair that could be from any source. It could be from a hairdresser’s floor.
When the hair gets collected, it’s guaranteed that all the hair in a bunch is not in the same direction, so their cuticles will clash, causing tangles and mats. So we must remove the cuticles so the hair may be smoothed out and not tangle anymore.
Non-Remy hair is used to make ultra-thin skin hairpieces. Wearers will need to replace them every 3–4 weeks. However, with appropriate care and a solid base, a non-Remy hair system may also last for months, even up to a year.
Send-in Hair
Newtimes Hair can also make hair toppers using the hair you send us.
Which base type should I choose for the hair topper?
Hair topper bases are one of the most confusing terms for new wearers. We recommend always taking the base that suits your or your client’s needs.
Silk top: Most hair toppers for women provided by Newtimes Hair have a silk top, which is the most realistic-looking, with the bottom layer usually monofilament or lace. The hair is tied to the bottom layer in double-split knots and comes out of the silk top, resembling real hair from a natural scalp.
Monofilament: Monofilament bases are the most durable. However, the mono base usually has a PU perimeter around the base to strengthen it.
Lace: Lace hair topper is the second most natural top hair topper for women after silk top. Besides, lace is the most breathable and comfortable base material.
Skin: Skin or polymer hair topper bases are generally quite durable. They are transparent so they are less noticeable on the scalp. Besides, they have a very smooth waterproof surface, so they are much easy to clean and can dry quickly.
Machine wefts: Many hair toppers for women have a machine weft around partially the sides and the full back. The weft stabilizes the topper and also grants the wearer perfect breathability.
Lace front: Lace-front hair toppers for women have the front part around the forehead made of lace, and the rest is made of one or more other materials. They are designed for wearers with receded hairlines or bald patches in the front. Lace front design gives the most natural hairlines and parts.
Hair topper vs. wig: which one should I choose?
The key to determining between human hair toppers and wigs is understanding at what stage your hair loss situation is. We’ve defined four main stages of hair loss at Newtimes Hair: the beginning stage, the developing stage, the advanced stage, and the entirely bald stage.
The beginning stage: The beginning stage is the initial thinning of specific areas when hair loss spreads progressively. Most hair loss or thinning starts at the top of the crown. Usually, the situation isn’t too bad, but it’s enough to alarm your security. In this scenario, a small-scale base women’s hair pieces for top of head would do.
The developing stage: Some specialists call it the “progressive stage.” At this stage, your hair loss patterns become noticeable in patches. People can easily see your scalp through your hair from a few meters away. A medium-to-large base wiglet hair topper offers adequate coverage.
Advanced stage: At this stage, your hair loss is very noticeable. However, you still have hair remaining around the sides and the back. A large wiglet hair topper would be your pick for total coverage of the entire top of the head.
Entirely bald stage: The person would have lost all her hair at this stage. Now it’s time for a wig to cover the whole head.
Baldness in patches: People experiencing alopecia areata tend to have random bald patches all over their heads. If that were the case, you’d better recommend the wearer get hair patches. They are small, handy, and economical. You can cut them into the right size and shape and stick them to the little bald spot.
After all, if the wearer shows all the above symptoms and bald patches that hair patches can hardly cover, she might have to get a full-cap human hair wig to cover the entire head.
